When We Awake

December 2023

This project began at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Burnaby, B.C. It was then brought to the Bell Performing Arts Centre with the Amok Project for a short film produced by the CBC that was created by Van Ber called “Dividing the Silence”. This is a video from our first rehearsal. The ballet piece “When We Awake” was composed by divide the silence.

When We Awake

This composition was written in tandem with a ballet class as it was being choreographed by Carol Mendes.

The story is one of varying inanimate objects and animals coming to life; rocks, birds etc. These creatures come to life through being taught how to dance. This was our inspirational starting point.
